Transformers figures are wildly popular toys thanks to their excellent story lines, storied past, and sheer coolness factor. While recent entrants in their toy line are impressive with their intricate transformations and gadgetry, the clunkier and heavier figures of the eighties are exceptionally desirable, partially thanks to their storied past.

In the 1970’s, Japanese toy company Takara manufactured the popular Microman and Diaclone toy lines, which featured figures that morphed into robots, electronics devices, and vehicles. Hasbro was already partnering with Takara for the G.I. Joe toy line and continued the partnership to create the Transformers figures toy line, while simultaneously purchasing the Diaclone line outright.

A backstory was commissioned for the toy line and many new figures were added, while many of the original Diaclone toys were reworked to fit in with this new story line. That’s the easy piece of their history. Then things begin to get confusing.

Soon afterwards, the Marvel comic was introduced in the United States. It would later be released in Japan and the UK, inspiring new figure variations and multiple names for toys in the process. In 1984 the television series was produced, but the writers didn’t precisely follow the original backstory.

In 1986, the Transformers animated movie was developed, two more seasons of the cartoon series were produced, and the UK and Japanese story lines were still being developed. In the early 90’s, the second generation series was released (G2), followed by Beast Wars, followed by a new series of toys and comics developed by Dreamwave in the early 2000’s. All of this led to wild discrepancies in backgrounds, plots, characters, and many other aspects associated with the toy line and the backstory.

At the same time, Hasbro was launching more and more Transformers figures and sets, including Headmasters, Powermasters, Dinobots, Triggerbots, Trainbots, Throttlebots, Constructicons, Sparkobots, Protectobots, and many more. Many of these toys were truly engineering wonders. Wait a minute, don’t tell me that you thought there was only one toy line?!

Adding to this confusion are the new Transformers releases, inspired by the feature film. Some of these new toys even feature tie-ins with the popular Star Wars franchise. Although these transforming toys don’t carry the same geek appeal as Star Wars vintage action figures or the original Transformers figures, they are very popular with newer fans of both the Star Wars and Transformers series.

The bottom line is that Transformer action figures are more than just a fun memory for many collectors; they are also a perfect example of cooperation, design ingenuity, and creativity not often seen in the current mass market toy releases. Thanks to their past, vintage Transformers figures should remain popular and collectible for many years to come.

Many young girls and boys dream of owning a huge wood doll house. Creative skills can be built by allowing a child to organize, decorate, and furnish a small-scale home. Then family-modeled play involving the doll house people and their lives can truly help inspire a child through decision making and story telling.

Typically, a wood doll house is created after real homes in the world. House styles vary from area to area, but most wood doll house manufacturers use plans from the more popular home styles-Victorian, Colonial, Georgian, American farm house, or English Tudor.

The most regal of all doll houses is that based on the Victorian model. This was Queen Anne’s favorite style of construction. She felt that the exterior and interior should look royal, and this type of doll house is truly so. It consists of two storeys. The rooms are large; so it is easy to entertain guests. The upper storey has many bedrooms; so families can stay overnight if necessary. What makes the house have that special look to it? Well, there is an unfinished third storey which contains an attic. Towers can be seen at the upper corners of the house. Fancy and curved wrap-around porches where the open areas have latticed skirting, many large windows, irregular rooflines, exteriors with lattice work skirting and exquisite millwork–these characterize a typical Queen Anne Victorian home. Ask children which is their favorite doll house; the answer is Victorian!

The Eastern area favors colonial-style houses. The house is well worth the money that is paid for it, since the area is large. Two-storied in construction and rectangular in shape, the living space is more than enough for the entire family. While the bedrooms are housed on the upper floor, the downstairs is meant for entertaining. The construction is quite standard.

Georgian homes were similar to the Colonial homes, but on a grander scale. The rectangular shaped home was bordered on each side with huge brick or stone chimneys. Everything on the outside of the house seemed like a mirror image of the opposite side. Georgian homes provided plenty of living space; therefore, they make wonderful wood doll house models.

Ask manufacturers which is the simplest doll house to construct, and they will reply, “the American Farm House”! It consists of a main portion in front, which is then extended. The extension is at the back in the shape of a T or an L. This creates a larger living area. The farmhouse is two-storeyed with the kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom downstairs, and the bedrooms upstairs.

Lastly, we come to English Tudor-style houses. They are really magnificent to look at, and remain a great favorite with children! True, this type of doll house is more expensive than the others, what with all the fancy settings! Again a two-storeyed construction, the living area and guest rooms remain on the main floor, while the bedrooms are upstairs. Why are these houses so special? Well, they have all these trappings to them–timber lines on the stone walls, parapets, cross-hatching near the roof line, huge stone chimneys and narrow windows.

It is advisable to present the child with the list of doll houses and allow him/her to choose. They get the feeling of being important, and respect you for “respecting” their opinions! The doll house therefore becomes a very special part of their lives.

“NO! I want to keep that one!”, said my six year old grabbing an old, somewhat grubby stuffed toy out of my hands. It was the day before our garage sale, and my son and I were going through his closet together to clear out the toys which he had outgrown, and needless to say, I was quite surprised to see which toys he insisted on keeping even though he didn’t play with them anymore.

Psychologists have recently confirmed that children do become emotionally attached to cuddly toys, blankets and even smelly old scraps of material because they intuitively believe they possess a unique essence or life force. Studies showed that children will prefer their cherished comfort objects over duplicates apparently identical in every way. From a very young age, children will invest in such objects intangible qualities that cannot be reproduced. The child’s sentiments to this object is similar to that of an art enthusiast who values the original over a copy that is identical in every way.

In an experiment, children were shown a “magic” box which reproduced objects. After seeing the machine replicate a green block, they were then asked if they would like their comfort toy reproduced. Of the 22 children asked, four stubbornly refused to allow their object to be copied, and of the 18 that allowed their object to be duplicated, only 5 opted to take the copy. (Afterward, the children were shown how the illusion worked, and they then understood that they went away with the original. )

This experiment showed that children believe that in addition to the physical properties of their objects, there was some other quality to them that could not be copied. This intuitive reaction to cherished objects exists in children as it exists in adults who value fine art originals.

Some toys are sentimentally valued as much as, or even more than, fine art pieces. They are kept for life, and even passed on to the next generation. These special toys can be instrumental in the life of a child. They instill a sense of identity, and a value for relationships. Most of us can remember particular gifts or toys that we received as children and the excitement they caused. Children are also able to recognize that something is precious, a thing to treasure and be careful with. It can be argued that in handling precious toys, children learn the need for physical restraint.

So, yes, children can get attached to their toys. They see their favourite toys as a stable part of their environment, and derive much comfort from that. They are also aware, in various degrees of understanding, that these toys were given with love from parents, relatives, or friends. They probably don’t notice whether the gifts are hand-me-downs, purchased or hand-made. What probably matters most is whether the child experiences joy in the toy, and thus begins a relationship with it. Inevitably, some toys are more valued than others. Favourite toys or comfort toys serve to shape the child’s understanding of what it is to be loved and cared for. These are all valid human yearnings worth bearing in mind the next time you find your child unwilling to part with the “best” of his old, favourite toys.

It has been said that a tired dog is a happy dog. That may be true. However, it is certainly true that a tired dog has a happy owner. Dog toys and play serve a valuable function for you and your dog-besides wearing your dog out and keeping him out of trouble, toys can stimulate his mind.

Boredom is often the cause of a lot of bad behavior with dogs, such as chewing furniture, digging holes, or constant barking. Dog toys, by alleviating the boredom, may help alleviate the problem.

Dog Toys Can Make Your Mad Dog Sane

One thing you have to know about dogs is that they like to work. They like also like to play. Most of all, they like to be involved. They also need exercise every single day.

Dogs are pack animals and need structure and interactions. For a pet dog, that means you are the pack. You need to do more than just feed and water your dog. You need to care for his mental health. And there’s more to that than locking the dog out in the yard with chew toys.

Dog toys that are right for you and your dog are available. Here are some types of dog toys that will improve indoor playtime beyond the simple and repetitive games like fetch and tug of war.

Hide and Seek Dog Toys

To amuse both you and your dog, and satisfy your dog’s hunting instincts, consider dog toys that with an animal and a place for it to hide will. You stuff the toy in its toy hiding place, and your dog must root it out.

Your dog can destroy these dog toys over and over without actually destroying it. These dog toys have built in squeakers, so you can get your dog excited before setting him on his mission.

Ideal for dogs under 40 pounds, these dog toys will also appeal to your dog’s instinct to dig. This is especially good for terriers, the digging specialists of the dog world. Your dog will stimulate his mind with these toys, thus making him less bored and thus less destructive.

Dog Toys With Hidden Eggs Give Your Dog Something to Gut

Consider toys with squeaky eggs in their stomach. If your dog loves to chew the stuffing out of pillows, he’s just practicing gutting his prey. Let him do it on dog toys designed to be gutted, over and over.

Dog Toys with Treats in Them

Most dogs love those old standards, chew toys. Many dogs are quite content to gnaw their chew toys to oblivion, but most dogs need more mental stimulation, at least some of the time.

A dog toy that rewards your dog for solving a puzzle can be mentally stimulating and satisfying. One of these is a plastic cube with treats inside which the dog must find a way to get out of the cube. The toy is also adjustable, so as your dog puzzles out how to get the treats out, you can make it harder so he won’t get bored.

This type of dog toys includes a rubber ball that helps clean your dog’s teeth when he plays with it. Your dog bites the slits in the ball. These chew toys come in various sizes for different sizes of dog, but also come in different degrees of toughness so you can adjust for the destructiveness of your dog’s chewing ability. Here’s how it works: His teeth sink into the grooves. The grooves stimulate the gums and clean the teeth, and dispense treats or kibble for your dog.

Don’t Just Stimulate Your Dog’s Jaws, Stimulate His Mind With Dog Toys

Dog toys have the special ability to stimulate your dog’s mind as well as can your dog as the task is completed. This provides mentally stimulating play for your dog, which can help keep them from being bored, and a contented, tired dog is less likely to destroy everything you own by chewing it.

There has been a long debate in the off roaders empire. The debate on what fuel source is the right one. Both the propane users and the gas users claim there choice is the safest and more efficient.

We will go over a few of the advantages and disadvantages of both fuel systems. Starting with the petro option. Petro has been used to fuel almost 80% of internal combustion engines in the last hundred years.

Well let’s take a look at it. Gas is available on almost every corner in every city in the USA. There is high octane, low octane, racing fuel. Gas is in a liquid form and prone to run out of vents and fuel caps when the vehicle is on its side or upside down.

Propane burns a little bit cleaner the gas. Propane is also readily found in the US although not quite as common. We have been using it in forklifts for many years with great results. The tanks that hold it are bulky and cumbersome. propane does not run out like liquid gas when a vehicle is on its side or upside down.

The choice is yours. The best way to make a decision consult the experts and decide which fuel is for you. I know rock crawlers in the formula toy division use propane. The performance seems to mimick that of gas.
